Deaths lower during Omicron than the Delta despite 400% case increase

Omicron really is less deadly than Delta or prior COVID variants, new CDC research has confirmed, with deaths down 45 per cent compared to winter 2020, despite the US seeing its highest-ever number of infections.

An analysis revealed that despite total cases being 386 percent higher during Omicron than during Delta, deaths actually dropped 3.6 percent compared to during the prior variant. And the difference in mortality rates was even more pronounced when compared to last winter’s surge. The rate of cases is 219 percent higher during Omicron, but deaths are down a whopping 45 percent.

The data adds to the growing evidence that the Omicron variant, which makes up 99 percent of new cases in the U.S., is far more infectious, but nowhere near as lethal as previous versions of the virus.

Researchers at the CDC still warn that the amount of deaths being caused by the virus is still worrisome, and that Americans should get vaccinated and take other basic precautions.

CDC researchers found that despite large surges in cases and hospitalizations during the Omicron Covid wave when compared to last winter's and the Delta wave, deaths did not follow. Daily Covid deaths were actually 4% lower this winter than they were last at the virus's peak

CDC researchers found that despite large surges in cases and hospitalizations during the Omicron Covid wave when compared to last winter’s and the Delta wave, deaths did not follow. Daily Covid deaths were actually 4% lower this winter than they were last at the virus’s peak

‘COVID-19 disease severity appears to be lower during the Omicron period than during previous periods of high transmission, likely related to higher vaccination coverage, which reduces disease severity, lower virulence of the Omicron variant, and infection-acquired immunity,’ researchers wrote.

They gathered data from three hospital surveillance systems in the U.S. to compare data across the three largest waves of the pandemic so far.

The highest weekly totals from each week were compared across a variety of metrics like cases, deaths, hospitalizations, and percentage of hospital beds used for Covid patients.

At its peak, the CDC logged 798,976 daily cases for the Omicron wave, well beyond the 250,335 daily cases recorded during the peak of last winter’s wave, and the 164,249 cases at the peak of the Delta wave.

Hospitalizations were higher as well. During Omicron, a peak of 21,586 people were hospitalized with the virus, compared to 16,497 at the peak of last winter, and 12,285 over summer.

This surge’s hospitalization numbers could be misleading, though. Because of the high prevalence of the virus and rampant transmission combined with relatively mild symptoms, many people are carrying the virus without knowing.

Many people are tested for Covid when they go to a hospital for any reason, whether an emergency situation or routine treatment.

A person who tests positive in that case would still be added to the list of Covid hospitalizations despite not having a severe enough case that requires hospitalization.

Health officials in Massachusetts, for example,  that half of the nearly 3,200 ‘Covid patients’ hospitalized in the state were actually there for another reason.

This means that the officially reported hospitalization numbers for Omicron may be significantly higher than the actual number of people whose infection was severe enough to require serious treatment.

By the official figures, though, hospitalizations during Omicron are up 31 percent compared to last winter and 76 percent compared to the Delta wave.

‘[The data] underscores the importance of national emergency preparedness, specifically, hospital surge capacity and the ability to adequately staff local health care systems,’ researchers wrote.

Although both hospitalizations and deaths significantly increased during the Omicron-fueled surge, terbaik sumatera deaths actually managed to decrease.

Last winters Covid surge is still the deadliest, as cases soared to over a quarter-million per day before the vaccine was widely available.

Without those additional vaccine fighting antibodies, many succumbed to the virus, reaching a peak of 3,422 deaths per day, according to the CDC report.

Delta never reached the heights of the winter surge, as by then the vaccines were widely available in the U.S. The summer wave peaked at 1,924 deaths on a daily basis.

Omicron deaths remain in line with the Delta surge despite the case peak reaching heights three times as high.

The CDC research team logged 1,854 deaths per day at the peak of Omicron, down 3.6 percent from Delta and 46 percent from last winter.

While Omicron’s mortality rate may be lower, researchers still warn it can be deadly, and that over 1,800 deaths per day is nothing to scoff at.

‘The average daily number of deaths remains substantial,’ they wrote.

‘… Being up to date on vaccination and following other recommended prevention strategies are critical to preventing infections, severe illness, or death from COVID-19.’

BAZ BAMIGBOYE: A perfect Paris match for the boss from hell

Januari 22, 2022   Uncategorized

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has gained legions of fans thanks to her scene-stealing performance as Sylvie Grateau, Lily Collins’s ultra-cool boss in the much-talked about Netflix show, Emily In Paris.

Eagle-eyed Sylvie runs the office of luxury marketing company Savoir, where Emily has been transplanted from her home in the American Midwest.

The Parisienne clashes with Emily over her modern ideas, including using Instagram to promote her fashionista clients.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has gained legions of fans thanks to her scene-stealing performance as Sylvie Grateau, Lily Collins’s ultra-cool boss in the much-talked about Netflix show, Emily In Paris

‘I think Sylvie’s afraid of Emily, but she also admires her boldness,’ the 57-year-old actress said from her home in lockdown Paris on Wednesday.

‘She was somebody who was bold herself when she was younger.

‘I think there’s also jealousy that has to do with seeing someone waltzing into her office.

But eventually she’s sees Emily’s not making all the wrong choices.’

Leroy-Beaulieu also feels that Sylvie has an underlying warmth about her. ‘It was easy for me to relate to that,’ she said. But ‘underlying’ is the operative word.
Concealing Sylvie’s soft centre is that ‘whole walking around being rude’ thing, and she conceded that bit of the performance ‘was kind of easier, because Parisians are like that’.

When I interviewed Darren Star, who created Emily In Paris (which is still available to stream, by the way) he described Sylvie as a ‘grade-A bitch’; but one who ‘looks fantastic’.

Leroy-Beaulieu roared with laughter when I recounted that conversation. ‘I think she is a bitch! Who doesn’t love bitches?!’

She continued: ‘I know a lot of these women. Obviously, they have this enormous vulnerability, which they cannot show.
And also a lot of these women had to sacrifice their family, or love, or whatever, so they could be really tough and powerful. They had to carry that pain around, but it can’t show … because they’re powerful!’

Warming to her theme, she added: ‘So they wear all these clothes and jewellery, and they walk in a certain way, just to hide their vulnerability.

‘People who are strong don’t need to shout about it.

But Sylvie needs to put on a show.’

Leroy-Beaulieu grew up in an artistic household. Her father, Philippe Leroy, was an actor. Her mother, Francoise Laurent, ran her own line of fashion accessories — jewellery, knitwear and bags — for Marc Bohan, the creative force at Dior.
The actress wore some of her mother’s gems in the show.

I told Philippine I detected echoes of golden-age stars such as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in Philippine’s Sylvie; plus a nod and a wink to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

‘Bette Davis was on my mind a lot,’ she agreed.

When I apologised for this line of discussion — a female boss’s outfits, or her psychology — when I’m unlikely to ask the same of a male actor, she put me at ease.

‘I’m not against the fact that a woman can be well dressed, and we can talk about it.

It’s nice!

‘Being French, I’m happy that we have beautiful clothes, and beautiful fashion, and I think a woman’s body — when it’s well dressed — is beautiful to watch. I’m not offended. I’m not that kind of a feminist!’

She then gave me a tutorial on the secret of how French women manage to look so effortlessly chic.

Not for me, dear reader! But for all of you.

‘It’s about a mixture of comfort and beauty. You can’t be beautiful if you’re not comfortable. Your face is going to look like you’re tired of wearing heels. It has to be a mixture of highly chic, but also super comfortable.’

Leroy-Beaulieu wouldn’t discuss her private life, except to tell me that she has a grown-up daughter who is an artist, but ‘not at all in showbusiness’.

‘That’s all I’m going to say,’ she declared.

Let’s hope we see more of Philippine, whenever it’s possible to film the second season of Emily In Paris, in the City of Lights.

The boys are back in town!

The Jersey Boys musical is working its way back into London, nearly four years after it closed at the Piccadilly Theatre.

‘We were ready to come back the day after we left,’ joked Michael David, co-founder of Broadway partnership the Dodgers, one of the show’s producers.

David, speaking from New York, said that Howard Panter and Rosemary Squires made him an offer he couldn’t refuse: the chance to open the newly reconfigured — and newly named — Trafalgar Theatre, with previews from April 14 (subject to Government guidelines).

The hope is that the show will be able to perform with no social distancing, but strict safety procedures in place.

David said that a special clause had been written into the contract with the Trafalgar ensuring that the show will only open with full capacity seating.

If social distancing restrictions are still in force in April, the Jersey Boys will wait until they’ve been lifted.

As with Broadway, David told me ‘we can’t pay our bills if we are socially distanced’.

The production features 20 or so people on stage, plus the same number backstage, and it should be a boost for freelancers onstage and backstage, who have not earned a penny since theatres shut back in March.

David said he hoped director Des McAnuff, choreographer Sergio Trujillo and other members of the original creative team will be able to travel from the U.S.

for rehearsals.

Casting will start soon for the show, based on 1950s and 1960s heart-throbs Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, their music, and how one of their members had links to organised crime.

Songs include Working My Way Back To You, Fallen Angel and Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You (still love the way that number was used in The Deer Hunter).

Sony’s PS5 controller is the most magical part of the next-gen console

id=”article-body” class=”row” section=”article-body”>

The first time I picked up the DualSense controller, I thought: it’s like a little living thing in my hands. I was playing , a free PS5 game designed to highlight the new controller’s features. But, I also wondered: How many other PS5 games are going to take advantage of its wild, subtle features?

Gaming hardware that reaches out and surprises is pretty rare. Usually, it’s Nintendo’s domain: the detaching, terbaik sumatera docking, transforming , or the Wii’s free-wheeling controllers. The and are pretty astonishing. Add to that list the ‘s magical new version of its controller, now called DualSense instead of the older DualShock designation.

Irfendi-Ferizal Kompak Dukung \u201cBupati Cup 2017 Regional Sumatera\u201d | Sumbartime.com

The PlayStation 5 is a graphically overloaded console with lots of potential, but its standout feature is clearly the upgraded DualSense. Launching Astro’s Playroom, the game preinstalled on the PS5, you get a showcase of what it can do. Its triggers stop and start to make it seem like you’re gripping ledges or pulling back bowstrings. Walking across ice, the controller tinkles and taps just perfectly to make it seem like I can feel the crunchy surface. The DualSense’s vibrational haptics really do create moments where I can almost touch the game.

The PlayStation 5 should get its own in the next couple of years. But in the meantime, the DualSense offers a little promise of what Sony’s immersive gaming steps could head to next.

But how many games will showcase these new features and will developers take the time? New interfaces are risky. Sometimes, as was the case with the Nintendo Wii, Wii U and even the Joy-Cons on the Switch, it’s not easy to get other games to come aboard.

“Following discussions with game developers, we realized that ‘sense of touch’ within gameplay hasn’t been a focal point for many games in the PS4 generation,” says Takeshi Igarashi, VP of the Peripheral Design Department at Sony Japan, over email.

Sony has leaned on its own creative team to showcase the possibilities. Japan Studios’ Team Asobi has made games showcasing the PlayStation 4’s camera and PlayStation VR headset, and Astro’s Playroom does the same for the PS5. It’s as much a tutorial for new owners as it is an inspirational attempt to spark what other game developers could do next.

A playground of demos

“A lot of games usually come from a narrative or a desire to tell a particular story. And in our case, the story is all about the mechanical device and its possibilities,” Nicolas Doucet, Creative Director at Sony’s Japan Studio, says about Team Asobi and how it made Astro’s Playroom.

Team Asobi was sent its first DualSense prototypes back around early 2018, says Doucet, when the group was still busy making the PlayStation VR game Astro Bot Rescue Mission (which is one of my favorite PSVR games of all time). A dedicated DualSense team split off and started brainstorming clever things the controller could do.

The PS5’s DualSense is a surprising reinvention of the…

“We had 80 of these individual demos — we didn’t use everything. An individual tech demo could be archery, or it could be walking in the snow, or something like that,” says Doucet. “And then we would decide, in this world, we’re going to have these six or seven demos and we kind of stitched them together in a way that was as natural as possible. The idea is to kind of hide that to the user and just make them go on this magical journey instead.”

Japan Studio’s work helped evolve the controller, too. “For the adaptive triggers, we applied existing mechanism design technology and went through multiple concepts and mockups to create something that worked with the DualSense controller, while making sure we didn’t sacrifice comfort and ergonomics,” Sony’s Igarashi says. “We played demos that were provided by the Astro’s Playroom team in Japan Studio and we bounced ideas off each other to come up with a variety of different vibration patterns.”

Immersive magic, but without a headset

I’m used to wearing VR headsets, but the PS5’s first accessories are immersive without anything to wear. Team Asobi’s previous PlayStation games were mostly VR-focused, but the goals with the controller’s haptics are similarly immersive. “You know, we’ve been playing games for so many, many, years and it’s sometimes difficult to get surprised again, right?” Doucet says of the challenge. But he saw a lot of potential in the adaptive triggers and haptics right away. “There could be lots of features that sound cool on paper, but you can never quite get them to deliver anything. But these ones were really, really quick to deliver.”

The team started with trigger-focused shooting gallery demos that used the haptics and combined sounds with haptics in Astro’s Playroom to create realistic-feeling effects like hitting ice or metal.

“It’s kind of a trinity between what you feel, what you hear, from the controller especially and what you see on the screen. And your brain is really fooled into believing these. And the way you weight all these three elements is very important,” says Doucet.

Now playing:

Watch this:

PS5 review: full breakdown of all the new features

The effects are also directional and spatial. “In the sandstorm, you have the noise, but you also hear both the wind and the noise from the controller, you hear a kind of crackling sound as if the grains of sand were hitting inside,” Doucet says. “And then, of course, on screen, you also see the sandstorm coming at you. And what’s interesting is because we have two haptic motors in the controller, when the wind hits you in the game, it hits you from the front. And both of them produce haptic feedback on the same level. However, if you move the camera sideways and the wind comes from the side, then we balanced that where it comes from one side and travels to the other. So there’s a real time kind of element, according to the game camera, according to your position in a game.”

Doucet sees possibilities for more game-centric ways of using that, to detect ghosts in a game, for instance. “It’s always important that these things are not just gimmicks or one-shot things, but can be built upon,” he says.

Those crazy triggers: Rock climbing, squishy fish

I was particularly surprised by how the PS5’s triggers can stop midway, vibrating with feedback but also seemingly transforming based on what you’re contacting. The closest thing the PS5 does to simulating touch happens when rock climbing in Astro’s Playroom, where the triggers give feedback and even lock in to create the feel of a ledge.

Some of Doucet’s early experiments with the adaptive triggers showcased surprising levels of realism. “We had a demo we didn’t put in the game, but it was a hand. You could kind of open and close it,” Doucet says. The hand would be able to grab different objects and crush things like glass balls. You could also pick up a fish.

“You could close your hand and the fish would be moving along with the trigger. So it would be flipping and the trigger would be flapping too. And you could hear it coming from the controller.” Doucet says it was particularly surprising: “Seeing something moving inside your hand, fighting back because it’s moving, because it’s alive, it’s a very, very different kind of feeling. We didn’t put it in just because we didn’t have a good place to do it.”

The way the triggers give feedback, tightening up and adjusting, suggests ways games could use the tech for training, or as a guide. Doucet sees possibilities in “precision playing,” but for Astro’s Playroom the goal was to be simpler, more child-friendly. Deeper use of the triggers only comes in one area, where the crumbling blocks require some finesse to reach an optional goal. It’s a start toward exploring other ideas.

A lab to showcase magical possibilities

While Astro’s Playroom is clearly made to entertain PS5 owners, Doucet’s team has used its experiments to showcase ideas for developers, too, as part of their role exploring how to make the most of Sony’s new hardware.

“We started going out to third-party publishers, developers who also work on PlayStation or plan to make PlayStation games, which is why [we made] some of the choices we made about the tech demos,” says Doucet. “We had one where you could bounce a ball and the ball could be a basketball, football, volleyball, ping pong ball. And they were all different expressions by the way they were bouncing back and the way the trigger would behave. And we did that because, we thought, well, we’re not making a sports game. But you know, there are people where the ball physics and ball behavior is quintessential to the experience. So let’s have this kind of demo and see how far we can push out and that goes up to them. And they can sort of get inspired.”

There aren’t that many PlayStation 5 games that make the most of the DualSense feedback and triggers at the moment: Sony’s uses the subtle haptics a lot as a type of Spidey-sense, but not necessarily to transform gameplay. But those moments could come. It might take developers like Team Asobi to show the way, especially when a possible PSVR 2 arrives.

How many of these Christmas light decorating tricks do you use?

id=”article-body” class=”row” section=”article-body”>

No matter where you live, there are plenty of ways to get creative with Christmas lights. Apartment and condo dwellers may lack outdoor outlets, but can still beam festive flare to the neighborhood.

I grew up with parents who went wild with Christmas decor at our house. But now, decades later, I’m living the renter’s life with children of my own. And that means finding creative ways to light up windows, doorways and balconies for the holidays. Here are some of my tips for displaying Christmas lights that are simple, cheap and still look professional. (You can also watch my tutorial in the video embedded above.)

Christmas lights on a tree and around a window

Hook up size C9 LED bulbs along a window edge for all to see.

Border the windows

Lights around a window are a super simple way to spread cheer — and you’re going to want to buy some big, chunky bulbs to make sure everyone can see that cheer. That means size C7 or C9. And for anyone with an apartment or condo, you’ll need to attach them on the inside border.

Stay away from incandescent bulbs for indoor decorating. I say that as someone who has bought them for years because, well, they’re cheaper. But these bulbs get hot, and that’s not good if the bulbs will touch anything — or if you have kids or pets. The LED C9-size bulbs may cost a little more, but they’re safer and more reliable. For my windows I used the Home Depot brand  marked as “super bright,” and these are indistinguishable from incandescents from a distance.

Incandescent and LED look similar. Here, the LED is pictured above the incandescent strand.

For a large window, a strand of 25 lights should work well (about 16 feet in length). You’ll also need clear, plastic, . A pack of 40 small hooks is more than plenty for one window. Stick one every six inches along the border, keeping the hooks in the same direction. Distance between hooks doesn’t need to be exact. What matters is that you’ll be able to keep the bulb cord taut and in a straight line as it hugs the edge, with bulbs facing outward in the same direction.

Tuck in a strand of cord into the hook along the window border, trying to keep the line straight and taut as you go around.

Wait at least 30 minutes for adhesive to set against the window border wall before attaching the light cord into the hooks. Make sure you plan where the plug end is going to attach to an extension cord before you begin.

The best balcony on the block

Decorating the railing of a balcony can be tricky if there’s no outdoor power outlet. But there are options.

This $4 adapter turns a light socket into a power outlet.

If your balcony or outdoor area has a light fixture that uses a standard bulb, you’re in luck. Take out the bulb and screw in a , which converts a light socket into two power outlets. (And you can still screw a bulb in the bottom.)

Now you have a way to power lights to put around a balcony railing. But don’t just slop on a strand haphazardly — keep the bulbs in an orderly design. An easy method is to take a strand of C7 or C9 bulbs and make each bulb face upward on the railing, keeping the cord in a straight line. Use zip ties around each bulb to secure the strand pts terbaik sumatera snugly, with all bulbs all pointing up.

Be sure to test extension cords and lights before pinning them down with zip ties. Remember that light socket adapters use plugs with two prongs, so three-prong grounded extension cords won’t work.

I also recommend covering open sockets with a strip of electrical tape, to prevent water from getting inside exposed slots.

Battery-powered holiday magic

If you don’t have an outdoor light to turn into an outlet, go with battery-powered lights. I’m seeing a ton of choices this year at stores — several of which are marked safe for outdoor use. Some have timers that will automatically turn off lights after six hours. Some lights have options to switch between flashing and chaser effects.

This rope of 100 micro dot LEDs stretches a little over 24 feet and takes six AA batteries.

This year I’m using a long rope of 100 micro dot LED lights to decorate the railing on my front steps. A rope light is simple to twist around the handrails. It cost me — but each strand takes six AA batteries. I’m also using two smaller strands of to decorate some miniature tree bushes I bought for outside the front door. Those smaller outdoor-safe strands just take three batteries each.

I’ve been lighting these up every night for a week and haven’t had to replace the batteries yet, but I’ll update this post when I reach the end of the battery lifespan.

Try a different tree every day

Bridget Carey / CNET

Today’s fake, prelit trees are a cinch to set up, and they have fun effects. But I don’t have room to store a fake tree, so I go with a fresh, real tree. This year, I tried out a high-tech strand of lights called , and it brings next-level Christmas magic to a tree without any effort.

For my six-footer, I wrapped a 250-light strand around the tree, as I would any other strand of lights. This Generation II Twinkly strand of RGB LEDs, , is controlled by an app and requires Wi-Fi to work. Fire up the app and point your phone’s camera at the tree for it to read where every light is sitting on the tree. Once it maps the location of every light, choose between various vivid light effects that fade, twinkle or rotate around the tree in cool patterns.

Or maybe you’re in a twisting candy-cane animation mood?

Bridget Carey / CNET

Switch your design on the fly with an app full of preset effects. Depending on my mood, I can have a rainbow fade cascade down from the top, or a candy-cane red and white swirl, or cheerful twinkling tropical carnival colors. Customize the speed, color and brightness, or design your own patterns. When you’re spending a lot of time at home, you can keep things feeling fresh with a different light design every day.

Smart plugs keep it simple

When outlets are in hard-to-reach places, can save you some trouble — and you don’t need any smart speaker or hub to make them work for you.

Put a smart plug in an outlet, and attach your light strand to the smart plug. Now it can be turned on and off with an app, instead of needing you to strain to unplug extension cords at the end of the night. I use ($25), which also can set lights to turn on and off with a timer. There’s also a button on the side of the plug for others to control it without an app.

Avoid using incandescent lights indoors. Melted window blinds don’t make for a jolly holiday.

Kim Kardashian's son Saint fears she is going to DIE

She had to look after her four children while her husband Kanye West quarantined while battling the coronavirus earlier this year.

And tensions in Kim Kardashian’s household reached fever pitch as she tried to keep daughters North, seven, and Chicago, two, and her sons Saint, four, and Kampus Terbaik Di Lampung 18-month-old Psalm entertained while stuck in the house due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 40, admitted her kids were ‘driving her up the wall’, as she tried to hide from them while filming a make-up tutorial because they would not ‘leave her alone’.

Kim threatened to ‘cut herself’ if she didn’t get some peace and quiet while in lockdown, yet this only caused a meltdown from Saint who worried that she would ‘die’ and no longer be around for them.

Admitting she was struggling with it all, Kim revealed she said to her children: ‘You guys, I’m actually gonna die if you don’t leave me alone.’

However this prompted North to scream: ‘You hate me!’

Taking a moment away to reflect, Kim said: ‘I’m so used to working a lot and being away from the kids, I love spending this much time with them, but it’s just such a change.’

Kim’s daughter North walked into the bathroom as Kim was shooting the makeup tutorial, and Kim whispered to the camera” ‘My kids will not leave me alone.’

‘Hey, that’s mean!’ North said.

While Kim fretted: ‘My kids are driving me so up the wall, I literally don’t know what to do. Today they all were crying and everyone’s antagonizing each other. They want to be up my a**hole.

‘I was just like, ”Okay guys, I’m gonna cut myself in fours”, and then Saint starts crying, ”You’re gonna bleed! And you’re gonna die and you’re not gonna be here with me,” and I’m just like, ”You guys, I’m actually gonna die if you don’t leave me alone.”

Not nice: Kim while trying to apply makeup complained that her children would not leave her alone and her daughter North replied, 'Hey, that's mean!'

Kris offered to let her daughter hide out in her house.

‘You know, Kim is Superwoman,’ the momager said in a confessional.’But this is a truly stressful, serious, unprecedented, confusing time for everyone.’

Kim maintained her work commitments while watching the kids, and even made time to talk to a college criminal justice class.

As she started speaking to them online, she saw her daughter Chicago run to the pool outside.

‘Gimme one sec—I have to grab her,’ she told the class, taking off.

To Kim’s relief, Kanye finally tested negative for COVID-19 and took the kids to Wyoming for five days to give Kim a break.

She rode around her house on a motorized suitcase, saying, ‘They are so excited to go to Wyoming. And I am even more excited for them to go.’

‘Do you guys hear that?’ she asked the cameras. ‘The sound of absolutely nothing.’

She slid on the floor in her pyjamas, and realized she hadn’t been alone in the house since North was born.

‘I wanna watch a movie in my house, I wanna do my nails, I want to just do nothing,’ Kim said, showing off a foot peel.

Just 24 hours later, she said she was ‘so bored,’ and had no idea what to do without the kids.

While Kim remained active, Khloé Kardashian, 36, was incredibly sick from the coronavirus, shaking with weakness and quarantined in her room for 14 days.

‘It sucks because True will come to my door and say, ”Mama,” and I have to pretend I’m not here,’ she said, referring to her two-year-old daughter.’She doesn’t understand why I can’t be with her right now.’

As the days went on, Khloé also grew bored and was seen constantly cleaning, making her bed, watching TV, ‘stalking’ her daughter, and doing her makeup.

She asked Tristan Thompson, True’s father, to get her some puzzles, and he brought one that featured the two of them in an intimate moment.

On Day 16, a lonely Khloé made herself an ‘imaginary friend’ called ‘Quarantina,’ which she fashioned out of a neck pillow with red sunglasses, and a necklace.

She called her brother Rob Kardashian, 33, to check it out, and he said, ‘So, you went crazy.’

‘Quarantina is saving me right now, because I need something to do all day long,’ Khloé told the cameras, as Tristan compared it to Wilson the volleyball from the 2000 movie Castaway.

‘If you ever need someone to talk to, I’ll stand outside your window,’ Tristan offered, as Khloé reflected on how thankful she was that he’d been there to watch True.

On Day 17, Khloé tested negative for the coronavirus.

Excited, she went to get True up for the day, and the baby just looked at her.

‘True I don’t think even noticed that I was gone,’ Khloé said.’I’m grateful that Tristan’s been here. But I’m the mom! Give me something!’

‘Having corona has been really tough on me physically and mentally,’ she went on, ‘but having Tristan here to help take care of me, bring me meals when I needed them, just make sure the house was okay, make sure True was okay, it’s meant the world to me.’

Elsewhere on the show, sisters Kylie Jenner, 23, and Kendall Jenner, 25, squashed a long-simmering beef.

Earlier in the season, a night out led to a fight over whether Kylie was driving Kendall back to Beverly Hills, and the two had ended up slapping each other.

A month-and-a-half later, they still hadn’t spoken, despite their family begging them to do so.

On Instagram, Kylie posted a photo of the two of them together, and Kendall wrote, ‘I thought we were mad at each other.’

‘Yes,’ Kylie wrote back, ‘but my t***ies are sitting nice in this pic.’

Kris called Kylie, who told her that she wanted to donate a million dollars to a doctor they knew for personal protective equipment.

She ignored her mother when she urged her to get in touch with Kendall.

For her part, Kendall was reading a book called Only Love Is Real, which bore a passage on pride being an extension of fear.

‘It just really reminded me of my sister,’ she said, ‘cause we both are alpha and tough girls.’

She reached out to Kylie, who finally called her back, apologetic.

‘I just wanna say that the other night got completely out of control,’ Kylie offered, saying she hadn’t known Kendall wanted a ride home.

‘I think it was just miscommunication, and obviously I would never do anything to hurt you.It just shouldn’t have ever gotten to that point.’

Kendall agreed that neither of them had been acting rationally.

‘I’m just ready for it to be over,’ she said in a confessional.’Sisters are sisters. We can fight all we want and say crazy things to each other, but at the end of the day we’re a family and we love each other so much. She’s my partner-in-crime, always has been my entire life, and that will never change. So her not being in my life for a month-and-a-half was not ideal.’

‘I love my sister, and there’s no need to ever not talk for that long,’ Kylie agreed.

In a preview of next week’s episode, the Kardashians agreed that Khloé and Tristan had recently slept together, and Tristan told Khloé, ‘I want you in my life.’
